SHILLONG: World Mental Health Day was observed by the Counseling Psychology Department of Martin Luther Christian University by organising an awareness programme in accordance with this year’s theme, ‘The Great Push: Investing in Mental Health’ at KJPA Conference Hall, IGP here on Wednesday.
Addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest, a psychiatrist at Woodland Hospital, Dr Pakha Tesia emphasized on creating awareness about mental health in the community, the stigma associated with mental health disorders and encouraged students to bridge the gap between the resources available and the prevalence of mental health in the state.
Meanwhile, Director MANBHA Foundation Dr R Lamar shed some light on the substance abuse and mental health in Meghalaya while lecturer Social Work Department, MLCU, E Rangad presented a paper on the mental health scenario in Meghalaya.
The students of Allied Health Sciences, Social Work Department and students of BDPS attended the programme.
