SHILLONG: Noted city based businessman , JN Bawri has denied allegation that the headman of Malki Durbar and leader of Synjuk Ki Rangbah Shnong, HP Oflyn Dohling tried to allot land belonging to the locality to him in a hush, hush manner.

This comes after Dohling was accused of issuing him a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to part with the community land at Dhankheti – where Bawri’s family has commercial interests.

“I unequivocally deny these allegations and further clarify that I am quite content, with the land I own and possess through a lease deed granted by the Government of Meghalaya (then Assam) since 1960 and have no desire or intention to acquire any land belonging to the locality,” said Bawri.

It may be mentioned that a joint inspection was proposed by the East Khasi Hills Administration on September 30, 2011 but due to the visit of Vice President of India to the city then the inspection had to be postponed.

Informing that a new date will be fixed sometime by next week, the DC, East Khasi Hills District said, “Normally when we receive an application for NOC for construction purpose, we send our officials for inspection taking into consideration the views of the public including the Durbar and other such institutions, which is the normal call.”

Mr Dohling who was unaware of the proposed joint inspection and later took up the matter with the village said that certain sections have misconceived notion about the joint inspection.
