Abducted Assam man rescued in Dimapur

Kohima: One person from Assam, who was kidnapped by some gunmen in Dimapur, was swiftly rescued by Dimapur and arrested five persons in this connection,

Official sources on Sunday said that the rescued victim identified as Md. Sultan Ahmed is a resident of Beaduhati under Hojai Police Station of Assam. He was on a trip to Dimapur on October 28, making a visit to his brother, who stays at Doyapur, near Dimapur.

The victim, a BA final year student, he also works as a teacher at Deoduhapa M.E. School in Assam.

In the preliminary interrogation it was revealed that one non-Naga accused of the victim’s religion had led and tricked Sultan into the dragnet of the other collaborators in the crime.

According to the statement of the victim, he met the accused onboard a Dimapur-bound Intercity Express on the day of the kidnapping. The latter had boarded the train at Lumding, he said. New to Dimapur, Sultan was befriended by the accused. (UNI)
