SHILLONG: Shillong College defeated St.Edmund’s College by 18 runs and St.Anthony’s College defeated Synod College by four wickets in the Inter College Cricket Tournament 2011 organised by the Shillong Cricket Association at the Cricket Ground Polo on Friday.

In a low scoring first match, Shillong College won the toss and elected to bat first only to manage 83 for the loss of 10 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Sylvester Mylliempdah scored 18 runs of 38 balls while Andrew Thabah bowled a tight spell to take three wickets for 18 runs of his four overs.In reply, St.Edmund’s could not recover from the early loss of wickets and were bundled out for 68 runs in 20 overs. Sylvester (4/13) was the peak of the bowlers for Shillong College.

In the second match, St.Anthony’s College got better of Synod College in a rain affected match. Synod College won the toss and elected to bat scoring 88 runs in 19.1 overs. Steve Syiemlieh scored 19 of 31 balls while Anup Saikai (2/15) bowled a tight spell for St Anthony’s. Due to heavy downpour, the target was revised to 67 in 15 overs where St.Anthony’s College scored the required runs in 12.3 overs losing six wickets. Suresh Sunar scored 16 runs of 22 balls while Donald Nongkseh took two wickets for 17 runs from his three overs.
