Ummulong –Moodymmai water supply scheme to benefit 12 villages

 JOWAI: Public Health Engineering Minister, Shitlang Pale on Monday laid down the foundation stone of Ummulong –Moodymmai combined Water Supply Scheme worth Rs. 20.90 crore funded under the National Rural Drinking Water Supply Programme (NRDWP) by the Ministry of Rural Development.

Local MLA, Sniawbhalang Dhar who presided over the foundation stone laying ceremony said, the scheme will benefit 12 villages including Sohmynthing, Phlongingkhaw, Demthring, Lumkhudung, Ummulong A, Ummulong BMookyndur, Wahrymbai, Tyrshang, Lad-Mukhla and Mukhla villages.

Headmen of various villages who spoke at the function expressed their happiness over the new water supply schemes.

“The people of the area are facing acute water scarcity and with the iniative of the government, particularly the hardwork of the local MLA, the PHE Minister and the PHE department, we hope that the scheme will be completed within the stipulated time for the welfare of the people”, one of the headman , Monjur Pyrtuh said.

The chief engineer, H Prasad informed that the source of the water supply scheme will be Umngot River.
