Tourism hoped to generate jobs in Nagaland
KOHIMA: Nagaland Commissioner and Secretary of Tourism I Himato Zhimomi on Tuesday said the Nagaland Tourism sector had developed gradually and expected that by 2012, Tourism will be another source of employment generating avenue and a great economic booster for the state. Addressing a press conference at the Directorate of Tourism in Kohima this morning, Mr Zhimomi said the Hornbill Festival is the greatest attraction for home and foreign tourists, albeit there are several other tribal festivals, where tourists are also attending in large number, even in some of the interior parts of the state. He said the Hornbill Festival is the ‘Festival of Festival’ , as all the festivals of all Naga tribes of Nagaland, Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh are showcasing their traditional festivals in Hornbill Festival. Security beefed up in Manipur
IMPHAL: Security has been beefed up in Manipur as PM Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi are expected to come here on December 3 on a one-day visit. Manipur Police conducted combing operation on Tuesday through out the state to nab suspected militants. Security personnel has been posted in all the areas where the PM and Sonia Gandhi are expected to go during their day long visit. A Special Protection Group (SPG) team will also be camping in the state from today onwaQrd to review the security situation. The two leaders are expected to inaugurate the City Convention Centre, the auditorium of Manipur Film Development Corporation and Assembly complex and High Court buildings. Officials said the Prime Minister is not expected to stay more than ten minutes in the four places where inauguration functions will be held. The two leaders will leave Imphal on a BSF plane. (UNI)
