Los Angeles: Singer Demi Lovato says she had tattoos inked on her wrists to remind her how far she has come.

The 19-year-old former Disney star was admitted to rehab in November 2010 to receive three months treatment for an eating disorder and self-harming and got the inkings on her wrists to make sure she doesn’t forget what she has overcome, Us magazine.

“I think scars are like battle wounds-beautiful, in a way. They show what you’ve been through and how strong you are for coming out of it. My tattoos say ‘Stay strong’/’Stay’ on one wrist and ‘strong’ on the other. Now I’m able to look at them and be thankful for being alive. I think that I’ve been blessed over the past year to be able to start over.” she said.

Lovato also said that she has turned to prayer to help her stay positive.

“I pray every night before I go to sleep and every morning when I wake up. Thinking about how far I have come in a year makes me so thankful. I could not have done this without God and the amazing support from my family,” she added. (PTI)
