Teenager held for demanding Rs 13 lakhs from parents

Shillong: A teenager hailing from Assam was held here for demanding Rs 13 lakh from his parents, after claiming he was abducted by armed cadres of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), police said on Thursday.

The 16-year-old boy who made the call to his parents in Guwahati from a PCO booth in Malki locality on Monday, was arrested from nearby Dhankheti area on Wednesday, they said.

According to the police, the minor was reported lost on December 4 by his parents. He was handed over to Assam Police team for further investigation, they said. (PTI)
