Ban on collection of donation

 Shillong: The East Khasi Hills district administration has banned collection of donations by individuals and organizations from shops and commercial establishment, Deputy Commissioner Jopthiaw Lyngdoh informed in a statement on Friday. Imposing Section 144 CrPC, he said that persons or organizations who are indulging in collection of any kind of donation from members of the business community and people at large as contribution towards any group and organisations in cash or kind in the whole district is prohibited. However, donations for religious purposes were exempted from the ban.
