SHILLONG: In a proud moment for the State, former Sports and Youth Affairs director Matsiewdor War has been selected as one of the judges for the archery event during the 2012 London Olympics which is scheduled to be held from July 27 to August 12.
War who had represented the country in archery in the Asian Games has been chosen by the World Archery Federation to be one of the international judge in the prestigious event.
The former national archer would be the first women from the State who would be going as the judge in the London event.
The former Sports and Youth Affairs director had qualified as an international judge after appearing for two examinations at Seoul, South Korea in 1994.
When contacted, War said that even though she has not been able to make it big in the international arena as an archer but she is happy to have been able to do this as the judge.
“I hope I have been able to make the people of the State happy by my selection ” she added.
She will be leaving for the London Olympics in the last week of July.
War had also been a judge at the 2006 Doha Asian Games in Qatar and later at the Youth World Archery Championships at Ogden, Utah in 2009.
