KSU unlocks Amrit Cement company

 SHILLONG: The KSU Narpuh Circle recently unlocked the Amrit Cement Company at Umlaper village, Elaka Rymbai Jaintia Hills after the company managed to pay the compensation amount to the families whose lands had been affected by the company.

The KSU had locked up the company after it failed to meet the total damage caused to the paddy fields of one Tip lang Lamare and Hunmon Dkhar from Chiehruphi village in Jaintia Hills.According to the KSU NC, the locking up of the company is a message to other cement factories in Jaintia Hills who propose to destroy the lands and belongings of the rural poor.The union further stated that it will keep a watchful eye on such companies which have an adverse affect on the lives of the people and the environment. The KSU has also warned any such companies in the region to carry out their work in a way that will not affect the people living in and around the factory.
