SHILLONG: Like every year, this year too, the KSU Mawkhar Circle led by its president Fedrick Myrthong came upto clean the Motphran (the monument located at the centre of Iewduh) here on Friday.

Irked by the adamant attitude of the government to clean this historic monument, the Union on Friday went on to clean the monument themselves citing that this mot (monument) was build in memory of the brave hearts of the Khasi community. “Why does the government give importance only to Khyndai Lad? Why does it initiate steps to beautify Khyndai Lad and not Iewduh?” questioned the president. The organisation urged the state government to take up steps to beautify Iewduh and restore this historic monument.

Meawhile, the Union has condemned the comparison of Deputy Chief Minister BM Lanong between U Soso Tham and Sachin Tendulkar citing that Tendulkar is just a national cricket player whereas U Soso Tham is the greatest poet in the entire Hynniewtrep society.

“He (Soso Tham) has inspired the young generation to step up for what they believe in”, they stated while adding that this comparison is mere diversion of the real character and personality of the legendary Khasi poet from a responsible individual to a mere player.
