NONGSTOIN: More than 400 villagers of Mawdoh areas such as Tynghor,Mawthawkroh, Nongkhlain, Mawmareh, Mawsngi, Nongthyhmai and Domjarain under West Khasi Hills district have taken up social work by constructing two kms missing link road from Langja on Tuesday under the leadership of local MDC of Rambrai KP Pangniang.

The step was taken for the welfare of the local people living in the area and have been waiting for many years for the Government to extend the construction of the road to 2 kms.

MDC Rambrai K.P.Pangniang speaking to this scribe on Wednesday lamented the negligence of the Government to complete the pending construction of only two kilometres. “The construction of the road from Rwiang to Athiabari covering a distance of 50km started 25 yrs back, wherein construction of 48 km was completed but the work for 2 km is not completed till date” Pangniang added.“It is a shame to all successive governments which wasted crores of public money without reaching the rural villagers” Pangniang said The two kms road now is a blessing to the villagers who want to transport their agricultural products to Athiabari or Boko Assam for marketing purposes. Prior to the construction the villagers were facing transportation and communication problems for the past so many years.
