JOWAI: The Additional Deputy Commissioner who is also the Chairman District Level Team, Jaintia Hills has once again reminded that all inter-state migrant workers should get themselves registered with the office of the registering officers as notified earilier by the government.
Earlier, the Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner has issued the notification prohibitig the employment of Inter-State Migrant Workers without registration in the whole of Jaintia Hills District.
The ADC has once again directed all employers, contractors of Inter-State Migrant Workers to get their workers registered with the office of the registering officers notified by the government within their jurisdiction either at the Labour Commissioner, Office of the Deputy Commissioner, office of the Sub-Divisional Officer (civil), or with any Extra Assistant Commissioners, Block Development Officer.
“The ADC has set 20 days time for registration of inter-state workers from the date of publish of this notice. Non compliance with the order such contractors, Employers and employees will be persecuted as per relevant sections of the Inter-State Migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and Condition of Service) Act.1979”, a statement issued here said.
Timber seized:
Jaintia Hills NGOs including the All Jaintia Youth Welfare Organisation (AJYWO), Ladrymbai Circle and the Jaintia Youth Federation (JYF), East Jaintia Hills along with JHADC forest officials recently seized four trucks loaded with timbers from Ladrymbai area.
AJYWO Circle President, Marshall Biam and JYF-EJH President, CL Suchiang informed all four trucks loaded with timber were seized from the shop run by one non-tribal at Ladrymbai Dongwah.
“Immediately after the seizure, a person identified as Marin Dkhar of the same village claimed himself as the owner of all timbers, but when asked to produce valid document including permission issued by the forest department, the owner could not produce a single document”, Biam and Suchiang said adding that,
When both the NGO leaders along with forest official threatened to lodged a police complaint against the person who claimed to be the owner, he disappeared from the scene.
Concerned over the rampant illegal trading and transportation of timber from Jaintia Hills district, the AJYWO, Ladrymbai Circle and JYF-EJH has strongly condemned all those involved in such illegal trade.
JYF leaders join UDP:
Two leaders of the Jaintia Youth Federation (JYF) have switched over to United Democratic Party (UDP) which is one of the biggest regional party in the state.
“The JYF Assistant General Secretary, Rajesh Sana and its Education Secretary, Wanbun N Sana officially joined the party on Thursday”, party president, Singh Mulieh informed. JSU distributes blankets: The Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU) Narpuh Circle distributed blankets to poor families at Borsara in Jaintia Hills district. The blankets were distributed in the presence of the JSU organising secretary, C. Pakem, village headman and JSU Narpuh President, Sunny Bareh besides other JSU members.
Meanwhile, the JSU has also expressed concern over lacks of development in Borsara villagewhich has no power supply and the village cannot be accessed due to absence of road.
