The efforts of the state government to attract tourists has been bitten by the recalcitrant public behaviour in the city. The government which has erected few billboards in major thoroughfares of the city to attract tourists have either been tared or limed off completely. The monoliths near the District Council office at Garikhana has become a dumping ground and an important information in a bus shed has given up to incessant lime rubbing.
