NEW DELHI: The Director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr R C Deka, has been honoured with the Kamal Kumari National Award. He received the award on January 8 in Guwahati for his outstanding contribution in the field of healthcare.
The award was constituted by Guwahati-based Kamal Kumari Foundation to promote excellence in the fields of science and technology, as also cultural pursuits.
Dr Deka urged the young generation to take science and technology as one of their main subject in their studies. He also stressed the need for research and innovation in biomedical sciences to meet the challenges of healthcare problems like malnutrition and child mortality, control of blindness and deafness and care of mothers and children particularly in rural areas.
