December 23: A two-and-a-half-year-old child of a city-based journalist, Section Syiemlieh, dies before being transported to the hospital as their vehicle was caught in a major traffic jam at Lad Rilbong point in the heart of the city.
December 31: One Phim Chyrmang (37) of Tuber-kmai Shnong in Jaintia Hills died on the way to hospital after she gave birth to a girl in a vehicle before reaching the hospital. Their vehicle was caught in a traffic gridlock for over two hours.
