SHILLONG: The Shillong Bench of the Gauhati High Court will hold its next hearing on March 9 to give a final verdict on whether the Justice (retd) SP Rajkhowa Judicial Inquiry Commission which is probing the Shillong jail break of 2009, needs to examine more witnesses.
It was in October last year that Court had issued an interim stay on the decision of the Commission to speed up the inquiry without giving time to examine more witnesses.
The petitioner, Agnes Kharshiing, who is following up the case had insisted for a fair investigation examination of remaining witnesses by the Commission.
In her submission to the court on Thursday, Kharshiing said that since the people have every right to know the facts, the Commission should examine more witnesses.
It was on May 31, 2009- that seven under trial prisoners led by Fullmoon Dhar had escaped from the Shillong jail. Dhar was killed in an encounter and others were re-captured the next day.
