SHILLONG: The Gauhati High Court Principal Bench has again fixed the hearing on the case relating to alleged non-declaration of the ownership of a petrol pump by Meghalaya legislator Ismail R Marak on Thursday.
While hearing the case on Wednesday, Justice A Roy and Justice PK Saikia had to adjourn the hearing after a plea from the petitioners’ lawyer Dr B Ahmed who sought for two-day adjournment of the hearing.
Marak’s lawyer Sujit Dey had opposed the adjournment arguing that enough time had been given to the petitioners.
Additional Advocate General of Meghalaya (Senior Counsel) Dr BP Todi, who pleads for the government, was also present during the hearing on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Marak’s lawyer admitted that he owned a petrol pump at Nangalbibra, but claimed that the legislator had declared the same while filing his nomination papers in 2008,” Dey claimed.
