3 rebels arrested in Assam

Guwahati: Police on Saturday arrested three militants, including two ULFA ultras, from different parts of the state. Acting on a tip-off, the police launched a search operation in Noshdia area of Upper Assam’s Tinsukia district and nabbed two suspected ULFA militants belonging to the anti-talk faction of the outfit. A 7.65 pistol and two rounds of ammunition have been recovered from them. The militants have been identified as Kehsav Gogoi and Shofik Gogoi. In another incident, a of NDFB militant was apprehended from Salbari in Baksa district during an operation by the police. (PTI)

Road mishap

Guwahati: Three persons have been killed and four others critically injured in a road mishap in Assam’s Goalpara district on Saturday, police said. A speeding truck collided with an autorickshaw at Bolbola area killing three persons on the spot and injuring four others. The condition of three of the injured, including a woman, was very critical and they have been admitted to a hospital. (PTI)

Prohibition

Guwahati: Assam government has prohibited strikes in all services relating to the Assam Gas Company Limited (AGCL) within the state. An official release on Saturday said that the prohibition will come into force with immediate effect. (PTI)
