Five cars go missing from carrier vehicle

Shillong: Five brand new cars of General Motors (GM) have gone missing from a carrier vehicle (NL02D-7671) parked at 20th Mile, Ri-Bhoi district Ri on February 23, a delayed report said on Monday.

The driver of the carrier vehicle — Soumulla Sekh, which was carrying a consignment of five new cars for Shillong and Aizawl, parked it at 20th Mile on February 23 after the vehicle, reportedly, developed a technical problem.

According to the FIR filed at Nongpoh Police Station by the representative of General Motors, the vehicle moved from Assam on February 21 at around 10 pm and it was supposed to deliver one car to DH Royal, Shillong and four more cars to a dealer at Aizawl.

The driver first complained about traffic jam and later informed that the vehicle had developed some technical snag, the FIR said.

The driver on February 22 went to Guwahati to get the parts required for the vehicle.

When the carrier failed to report to the Shillong dealer on February 24, the representative of General Motors tried contact the driver but his mobile was switched off. The carrier was found at 20th Mile but the consignment was missing. Miscreants took away the vehicles by opening the back door of the carrier.
