Tura: There appears to be no end in sight to the attack on homes of surrendered cadres by the GNLA with armed militants targeting the house of another former militant at Resubelpara under Mendipather in East Garo Hills on Tuesday night.

On Tuesday night, six armed GNLA militants knocked on the door of their former colleague Sengrim G Momin alias Waljan’s at Dila Kamagre in Mendipather town of East Garo Hills shortly after 8 pm.

They asked for the whereabouts of Waljan and not finding him there pushed out all the family members including his mother and brother before setting the house on fire. They even assaulted Waljan’s brother, police said.

The incident comes barely hours after another group of GNLA militants ambushed the convoy of Ampati SDPO and Deputy Superintendent of Police Sacheng R Marak at Rangapara village near Kherapara in which a heavy gun battle took place with no side sustaining any casualties.

The burning down of Waljan’s family home is the third time the GNLA has committed such an atrocity on families of militants who came over ground in the past one month.
