SHILLONG: Syiem of Hima Mylliem Latho Manik Syiem has once again come under scanner after he was alleged of misappropriating funds amounting upto Rs 1.27 crore while handling over land documents belonging to the Hima to Harijans which was claimed by the Syiem to have been cancelled long time back.

The 22 Myntris extracted some documents which stated that nearly Rs 1.27 crore of the fund belonging to the Hima has been misappropriated by the Syiem while handling of the land documents to Harijans.

The Myntris also unearthed some documents which pointed out that as per the report sent to the KHADC, the total amount of money collected during the year 2010-11 was Rs 1.69 crore.

Regarding the land documents, the Myntris claimed that the Syiem has issued a cancellation letter to the Harijans and submitted the same to the district council. However, it was found that the cancellation letter has been quashed and a stay order for Harijans has been passed by the High Court.

Questioning the Syiem on the disappearance of the fund, the Myntris also mentioned that Rs 50 lakh which was deposited in the account of the Hima on March 31 2006 has been siphoned off.

They also suspected that there could be a nexus between the Myntri Incharge of finance (Myntri M Rapsang), the Syiem and Syiem Khynnah of Hima Mylliem.

“Interestingly, despite these facts, why is the KHADC silent and not taking action against the Syiem”, one Myntri questioned while adding that “It seems that the KHADC has a big role to play in the disappearance of this money.”

In accordance to this, the demand for removal of Latho Manik Syiem as the Syiem of Hima Mylliem and Thwelson Manik Syiem as the Syiem Khynnah has intensified with the Myntris demanding for immediate reply from the KHADC on this matter.

Meanwhile, the public in general has questioned that KHADC on manipulation of funds.
