Arunachal okays forming of EGC

Itanagar: The Arun-achal Pradesh cabinet has approved constitution of an Employment Generation Council (EGC) and a Skill Development Council (SDC) to help the unemployed educated youth get employment opportunities.

“The EGC will record all datas pertaining to the number of unemployed youth in the state, their educational qualification and accordingly suggest to the government to facilitate employments both in private and public sectors by initiating various measures,” government spokesman Nabam Rebia told a press conference here.

Rebia, who is also the Parliamentary Secretary for Planning and Development disclosed that the SDC aimed for skill development of the educated unemployed youth through various training programme in several sectors to help the youth get self-employment opportunities.

The cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nabam Tuki here yesterday okayed introduction of Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme for the below poverty line (BPL) population of the state, Rebia said.

The cabinet also approved setting up of a government college at Yupia besides three model colleges at Palin in Kurung Kumey district, Jairampur in Changlang district and at Longding, the newly created district.

“The Cabinet has cleared establishment of two polytechnic institutes at Miao and Charju under Changlang and Tirap districts,” Rebia said, adding it also approved enhancement of stipends to students besides ten per cent recruitment in police and sports departments under sports quota. Rebia said the state government has approved establishment of four universities including a private one in the state. The Cabinet has approved establishment of Arunachal University at Pasighat besides Arunachal University of Studies at Namsai (Private). (PTI)
