The miserable condition of the road from from Riwiang to Langpih (ST)

NONGSTOIN: Owing to unseasonal rains in the past couple of days and the miserable road conditions, vehicles that usually ply from Riwiang to Langpih have not been able to drop their passengers to Langpih and the villagers of Langpih have to walk 13-14km to reach their destination.

The villagers here alleged that the sorry state of the roads here is due to the delay on part of the concerned contractor who is to construct the said road. Sordar of Langpih Swingly Samakha said that the construction of the road from Umwahlang to Langpih covering a distance of 13km has not yet started even after being in a pathetic condition. Things get worse when it rains making it impossible for vehicles to pass through the road.

Villagers said that the road construction with black topping has been allotted to contractor R.Kharshiing but till now the work has not started. A local resident of Langpih said that the construction of the Riwiang to Langpih road commenced since the firing incident at Langpih on 13th May, 2010 with an estimate of 15 crore under Special Plan Assistance. The Chief Minister during that time had announced that within 3 months the work would be processed but surprisingly nothing has been done so far.

Samakha also informed that road condition is a setback for transportation of critical patients to Nonglang PHC for better medical aids.
