St Mary’s, Anthony’s shine in East Khasi Hills atheletic meet

 SHILLONG: St Mary’s and St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School (HSS), Shillong dominated the East Khasi Hills Annual Inter School Meet which concluded at St Paul’s HSS ground, Marbisu in Mawngap on Thursday.

St Mary’s emerged champions in the girls’ under-14 and under-17 categories while H Elias High School, School and St Anthony’s were winners of the boys’ under-14 and under-17 categories respectively.

Seng Khasi High School, Marbisu were runner’s up in the under-14 category (boys) while H Elias were the runner’s up in the under-17 category (boys).

Ram Krishna Mission, Sohra finished runner’s up in the girls’ under-14 category while H Elias school were runner’s up in the girls’ under-17 category.

St Mary’s young athlete Clarisa Pyngrope was adjudged best athlete in the girls’ under-14 category while Clifford Sunn of Seng Khasi HS was the best athlete among the boys in the same category.

H Elias school’s Dopyoki Dhar emerged as the best athlete among the boys in the under-17 category while Manvene Khriam from St Mary’s was the best athlete among the girls in the same category.

Last year’s athlete of the event, Shrisa Rongpipi of St Mary’s HSS was adjudged the best athlete in the under-19 category while Padam Chettri of Gorkha Pathshala bagged the honour in the boys’ category.

Meanwhile, St Mary’s and St John HS, Laban were awarded the best march past contigent among girls and boys respectively.

It may be mentioned that Social Welfare Minister JA Lyngdoh and Shillong Press Club president David Laitphlang attended the occasion as the chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
