SHILLONG: The UDP has pledged to send its members to participate in the proposed one-day hunger strike announced by party legislator Ardent M Basaiawmoit and four MDCs.
Stating that the issue is not whether the party is supporting the hunger strike or not, UDP working president Paul Lyngdoh said the party would support any group which voices its concern over atrocities by Assam police against local villages in Langpih.
“It was the UDP which first voiced its concern on the matter,” Lyngdoh said here on Saturday.
He also reiterated that the party would give its logistic support to any campaign on the demand to resolve the long-pending inter-State boundary dispute.
The proposed hunger strike would be organised at the State Central Library on May 29 from 8 am to 6 pm.
