NONGSTOIN: A meeting was held at Markasa on Tuesday to discuss the absence of PDS supply of essential items in the area for the last three months.

Headman of Tiehdang, B Rani, who is the headman of 32 villages in the area convened the meeting which was attended by members of the KSU (Mawthadraishan Circle) along with the unlicensed dealers of PDS items.

“The lack of supply of PDS items, especially rice, has added to the burden of the locals particularly those depending on the BPL cards to obtain their ration from the dealers.

“Also the schools in the area have been deprived of the midday meals for the last three months,” Rani said.

It may be mentioned that on May 15th , a written petition was sent to the State Government urging it to announce the name of the PDS dealer of Markasa. The meet also demanded local MLA Dr Advisor Pariong to take serious cognizance of the matter and rslove it at the earliest.
