New Delhi: Following demand from the Northeastern states, the Centre has called a meeting of the Chief Ministers of Northeastern states to discuss financial issues involving the region.
The meeting has been called by Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukheree on Tuesday.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma, who also holds the State Finance portfolio, is arriving here on Monday to attend the meeting.
Dr Sangma will also be attending the Planning Commission meeting to approve the State’s annual plan for 2012-13.
Several ministers and top officials including Chief Secretary WMS Pariat will also be attending the two-day meeting of the Planning Commission, official sources informed on Friday.
The Chief Minister is also likely to attend the meeting of the Congress Working Committee to be held on June 4. This will be a meeting of the extended CWC, party sources said, with the permanent and special invitees also in attendance.
