NONGSTOIN: Irked by the admission procedure at the Sib Singh Higher Secondary School Nongpyndeng, Nongstoin, the KSU (Nongstoin Circle) warned to shut down Class XI (Arts) if students of the school are not accommodated.

With 75 seats in the Arts stream, the Sib Singh Higher Secondary School Nongpyndeng, Nongstoin failed to accommodate its own students. Out of the 92 students clearing the MBOSE SSLC examinations from the school, only 60 have been granted admission, while 15 new students from other schools have been given seats.

Following this, KSU led by its newly elected President D Wanniang met the school Principal P K Seal on Wednesday. The Principal, who had joined the School earlier in the year, informed the Union members that the school needed to create vacancies for students from other schools as well, so that better results can be achieved while adding that the classrooms would not be able to accommodate all the students.

“Earlier the Principals had always ensured that the old students of the school were always given the first priority,” the KSU members apprised the Seal who informed that the decision to accommodate students from other schools was taken by the School’s Committee.

The KSU, however, warned that if the old students of the school are not admitted, the Union would shut down Class XI and classes would resume only when a decision favouring the old students is taken.
