SHILLONG: In a recent hearing, the KHADC has upheld the appointment of Rang Dondor Blah as the Rangbah Shnong of Greater Keating Road while disposing the claim of Aibor E Wankhar citing lack of records to support the latter’s claim.

While disposing the petition of Wankhar, who opposed the appointment of Blah as the Rangbah Shnong, the KHADC in its order stated that the petition against the appointment of Blah does not have any merit.

The KHADC conducted the hearing following a High Court directive issued on December 12 last year to dispose off the issue within a period of three months from the date of passing of the order.

“The Council has arrived at this conclusion after hearing both the parties (Blah and Wankhar),” KHADC Executive Member in charge Elaka Lamphrang Blah stated in the order.

Blah said that from the face of the records, the election of Blah as the Rangbah Shnong was well supported with substantial evidence.

“In the case of Wankhar there are no records to suggest that he was elected as the Rangbah Shnong of the locality,” Blah said.

“The petition which he had filed on August 8 last year did not comply with the procedural formalities as required under the relevant law and hence defected,” the EM added.

While referring to the appointment letter (Sanad) issued by the Syiem of Mylliem to Blah, he said that the issue could have been resolved at the level of Syiem of Mylliem and Dorbar as the Council had neither recalled nor withdrawn the Sanad.
