Aizawl: Sinlung Hills Development Council (SHDC) authorities have siphoned off Rs 1.75 crore from the state Treasury through false bills before execution of works, a report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India said on Thursday.

The CAG report for the year ended March 31, 2011, tabled in the state assembly by the Finance Minister H. Liansailova on Thursday said that the fund was drawn during June 2010 to February 2011 by preparing 263 false bills.

The development council was created following an accord between the Mizoram government and the erstwhile underground Hmar People’s Convention (HPC) in 1997.

No work supervisors were employed and no registered contractors engaged to undertake the works, the report added. (PTI)
