TURA: A delegation of teachers from the West Garo Hills Teachers’ Welfare Forum paid a visit to the family of late Dennybirth G Momin on Monday at Resubelpara and handed over a substantial amount of money as financial assistance which had been contributed by members of the public.

The delegation held a prayer meeting in the house of Late Momin and consoled the family members and later handed over the money to Marblene R Marak, widow of Dennybirth Momin.

The money was contributed by the public of Garo Hills during a protest rally held at Tura on August 8 attended by over eight thousand people despite heavy rains to register their strong protest against the inhuman killing of the teacher.

Late Dennybirth G Momin was taken away at gunpoint from his home in the night by a group of GNLA militants led by ‘area commander’ Pilliport Marak and shot dead near the road which led to a huge uproar among the people of Garo Hills.

Meanwhile, in a shocking revelation, it was learnt that no government official or elected representative of the State has so far visited the family of Dennybirth Momin even after more than a month had passed since his death at the hands of militants.
