Shillong: The All Meghalaya Primary School Teachers Association (AMPSTA) has served an ultimatum to the Government to meet its demands by the end of the month failing to which the Association will stage a jail bharo aandolan and sit-in-demonstration on Teachers’ Day in the city. In a memorandum, the AMPSTA urged Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma to look into the matter and redress the grievances at the earliest. “We have apprised Dr Sangma of the several democratic approaches undertaken so far to appeal to the authorities to pay heed to our genuine demands”, AMPSTA general secretary FC Shullai said.
The long pending demands of the primary teachers include delay in disbursement salary, head teacher allowances, advance higher qualification increment, retirement benefit and social security, medical coverage, release of the 30 per cent arrear revised pay under the 4th pay revision 2007 among others.
