RBI office inauguration

Deputy Governor Reserve Bank of India will inaugurate the new office of the Reserve Bank at Apphira Building, Fruit Garden at 11.30 am on Friday.

 National youth awards

The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs has invited nominations for National Youth Awards 2012 from individual and voluntary organizations. The awards are conferred upon young men and women between the ages 13-35 years for their outstanding work in the field of national development and social service. He/she should have rendered service in the relevant field continuously during the last three years to five years prior to the year for which the award is to be given.

 Peace march

The Department of Social Work, Martin Luther Christian University will organize a peace march at 5 pm on Friday to inculcate a spirit of peace in the wake of conflicts in Assam and in other parts of the country. The peace march would commence with a short function at Fire Brigade after which it will culminate at Police Bazar.

 Office bearers

The All India Poetess Conference has formed a unit in Meghalaya known as “AIPC-MEGHALAYA CHAPTER” on Wednesday at a meeting held here in Shillong with the sole aim of promoting Poetry in Meghalaya. The elected office bearers included Prof. Streamlet Dkhar as President, Lucky Kharpuri Swer as Vice President, Minimon Laloo as General Secretary and Sushmita Das as Joint Secretary:

 Project launching

A project for survey and conservation of Biodiversity of Meghalaya will be launched by the Albert Einstein Survey institute (AESI) in collaboration with NEHU and Governmental Departments like ICAR and Tourism department at Shillong Science Centre, NEHU Campus on August 28 at 10.30am.

 Prize distribution

The result of the annual Krishna Das Paul Choudhury Memorial Art competition organized by the Zenith Jubelieth Club on August 12 will be distributed at a function to be held at the club hall on Saturday at 4.30 pm. In group A, the first position went to Angelica Lyngdoh of St Marys Montessori while in the group b the first prize went to Anmol Sunar of Queenie Higher Secondary School.

 Workshop

The BSNL will conduct an open house workshop on consumer education at 11 am on Saturday.

Cleaning drive

A cleaning drive was organized by Parmah Pareshyiap Laitkor Association on August 25 in the locality.
