SHILLONG: Former Election Commissioner of India, Navin B Chawla, on Wednesday visited the IIM Shillong. During his visit, Chawla interacted with students as well as the faculty in a one-hour session which gave an opportunity for the students of the institute to understand the management perspective of organising nationwide elections.

Chawla, while recounting his experience in organising the 2009 general elections in the country, highlighted the fact that ‘the Management one learns during elections is something that cannot be taught anywhere else’.

Students as well as the faculty got a chance to get a better outlook on the roles and capacities of the Election Commission and its contributions to nation building.

Chawla voiced his opinion on issues such as right to reject, right to recall and the issues that the Election Commission faces in these aspects.
