Nagaland BJP visits Karnataka

Kohima: The Nagaland BJP’s ‘People to People Goodwill mission’ returned to Dimapur on Wednesday after successfully meeting various sections of people for three days in Bangalore and Mysore city in regard to NE mass exodus from Karnataka.

According to a release issued by NJP General Secretary K James Vizo, besides interacting with the counter part of Karnataka, top officials of the state and the North East student leaders, the Unit team also visited the former Chief Minister B. S. Yeddjurappa on 11th Sept 2012, wherein, he expressed his solidarity to the people of North East in general.

He said what has happened was unfortunate and extended his appreciation to the visiting delegations for their concern and safety for the people coming from the NE India.

It is noted that 3.5 lakh of people of North East origin live in Karnataka and Bangalore is home to 2.5 lakh of North East origin, whereas, Nagas living at Bangalore is 15,000 to 20,000.

Meanwhile, the state BJP unit expressed its sincere gratitude to the Karnataka Chief Minister Jagdish Shettar, Deputy Chief Minister R Ashoka, State BJP Unit and District Unit Karnataka and the North East Student leaders for all their co-operation and co-ordination to Nagaland State BJP unit team.

The Nagaland BJP team was led by its president Dr M Chuba Ao accompanied Johny.G Rengma vice president and Spokesman, K. James Vizo and General Secretary and Vihoshe James National Council Member.

The party would also like to acknowledge the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Urban Development and Higher Education Minister Shurhozelie Liesietsu for their kind patronage extended to the party for which the trip was a success, the release said. (UNI)
