NONGSTOIN: In a meeting held here on Saturday, the four NGOs- KSU, FKJGP, WKHSU and the WYF and the Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong held a discussion on the further course of action to be taken in relation to the Nongstoin Urban Water Supply Scheme (NUWSS).

The NGOs have demanded the resignation of the Superintendent Engineer (SE) S K Blah immediately. The NGOs felt that the SE has lost the faith of the people in the district. They also added that the SE can no longer be trusted with the NUWSS and felt that the SE had time and again misled the people of Nongstoin.

The NGOs have rejected the claims made by the Principal Secretary that the entire amount (133.94 crore) allotted to the scheme was intact. They demanded that they be given documental proof of each package of the scheme.

In this regard, the NGOs stated that they would visit the office of the Deputy Commissioner of West Khasi Hills and submit a letter wherein they would put forth their current demands.
