Ceasefire with ANVC extended by one year

 SHILLONG: The tripartite ceasefire agreement with the ANVC was extended for one more year following a joint ceasefire monitoring meeting held here on Thursday.

ANVC publicity secretary, Arist Sangma, informed after the meeting that the Centre has agreed to extend the ceasefire by one more year.

According to Sangma the ceasefire was extended after monitoring the adherence to the ceasefire ground rules by the overground cadres.

While the Centre was represented by Joint Home Secretary in charge Northeast, Shambu Singh, the ANVC was represented by its general secretary, Wanding Marak, political secretary Doreng Malija Sangma, publicity secretary Arist Sangma, deputy commander in chief Chenang Marak and secretary of the outfit’s intelligence wing Rocky Sangma.

Officials of the State Home department were also present at the meeting.
