Jind (Haryana): At least four people, including a mother-son duo, were killed and 22 others, among them seven school children, were injured Monday in a head-on collision between a jeep and a bus in Haryana, police said. The incident took place on the Bhiwani road in Jind district, about 120 km away from Delhi. Two women were among the dead.

The occupants of the jeep were coming back to their village after taking a holy bath from ‘Pind Taarak Tirth’ at Pindara village on the auspicious occasion of ‘Somavasya’. Those killed were residents of Nanda village in Bhiwani district.

The injured were taken to hospitals. Eight of the injured, who were serious, were referred to the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) in Rohtak. The rest of 14 injured, which included seven school children, were being given medical treatment at the Jind Civil Hospital. “The accident took place between Dhimana and Bibipur village Monday morning when a bus of S.D. High School with seven students on board was on its way to school at Dhimana village. As the bus reached near the village, a jeep carrying 18 occupants collided head-on with it. Consequently, the jeep overturned,” said Assistant Sub-Inspector Krishan Lal. (IANS)
