Wildlife week celebrated in West Jaintia Hills

JOWAI: To accelerated the awareness of wildlife conservation among people, the Office of the Divisional Officer, Jaintia Hills Wildlife Division celebrated the 57th wildlife week which came to an and at a function held at the premises of Ka Syiem Jingsuk Secondary School, Amlarem in West Jaintia Hills District on Thursday.

State Principal Chief Conservator of Forest & Head of Forest Force VK Nautiyal attended the programme as the chief guest. The Conservator of Forest, Khasi and Jaintia Hills district, PHS Bonney chaired the programme. Principal of Ka Syiem Jingsuk Secondary School, Rev Fr Roy Thomas delivered a welcome address and the District Forest Officer, Division of Social Forestry, JM Pohsngap, presented a keynote address.

Other who spoke on the occasion included SDO, Amlarem Civil Sub-Division, NAK Syiem, Amlarem headman, J Ryndong and DFO, Wildlife Division, H Lato.

Prizes were distributed to winners of the drawing, painting and essay writing competitions organized by the Wildlife Division.
