Action plans for CM’s Youth for Green Campaign

JOWAI: The West Jaintia Hills District Committee for the Chief Minister’s Youth for green campaign, held a meeting on Friday and framed the first quarter ‘Action Planned’ for the smooth implementation of the programme launched recently in the District.

Prominent residents and NGOs of Jaintia Hills District attended the meeting. In the meeting, various programs were chalked out. The meeting resolved to hold awareness programs in various parts of the District, particularly in market places during market days. “The Awareness Programmes will be held before the marketing starts in the morning”.

The award will include a cash prize of Rs. 50, 000, Rs. 30, 000 and Rs. 20, 000 as the first, second and third prizes respectively.

The Jaintia Tourism and Environment Society (JTES) will organise an Environmental and Cleanliness workshop for those villages along the Myntdu river.

Students and residents of all the villages along the river banks will be involved in the cleaning drive”, he further added. The Committee has also planned sapling plantations in those places, wherein somebody should take care of the saplings planted, such as in a community land, religious land besides others. The DC informed that another action planned will be taken up in the next meeting to be held quarterly.
