Tourism neglected in West Khasi Hills

NONGSTOIN: The Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People West Khasi Hills on Friday, lambasted the Goverment regarding its negligence in order to develop tourist spots in West Khasi Hills.

While addressing the pressmen, the President FKJGP, West Khasi Hills, Palwanbor Syiem said that even West Khasi Hills have many beautiful tourist spots, but the negligence of the Government to beautify this naturaly blessed environment is useless.

He also said that, till date, the West Khasi Hills is still lacking in tourist spots due to less sanctions of schemes by the Tourist Department. He also added that even some scheme has been given but compared to the other Distrist West Khasi Hills, it is considered to be a poor one.

Meanwhile Syiem said that the Federation has recently demand the Tourist Department through the Tourist Officer West Khasi Hills, for the improvement of Tourist spots at Nongkhnum Island, Mawthadraishan Peak, Kyllang rock, Hot Spring, Lum Nongsynrieh, Ranikor Water spot, M War Lake, Hoodington Syiem Peak, Pamphyrnai lake and also 9 view point which includes the Lum Kyllai Longsngun, Niangram, Lum Iawpaw, Mawjut, Kubuit peak, Mawpein and Mawtyngkhur, Maranglang, Nongjyllieh and Lum Mawblei.

The federation has demand the government to take up initiative on the issues for the benefit of the District as a whole.
