SHILLONG: The scarcity in the supply of sugar has compelled the East Khasi Hills district administration to write to the food and civil supplies department to ensure early supply of this essential commodity.

Due to the scarcity of sugar, the FCI could not make available the sugar for the month of October.

Moreover, the district administration is yet to release sugar for the month of November.

“We have written to the concerned department to revalidate the quota”, the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Goyal said on Tuesday.

He said the district administration was trying to release the quota of both October and November early part of December.

“Since November is coming to a close, we will try to release the quota of previous two months in December”, Goyal added.
