Bhubaneswar: Anti-Corruption crusador Anna Hazare on Saturday clarified that he would only campiagn for good candidates of the political party announced by Arvind Kejriwal and not for any other political parties in the country.

Talking to newsmen here on the concluding day of his three- day visit to Odisha, Mr Hazare said there are also good people in other political parties but they are under the control of ‘someone’ whose integrity could be questioned and he would not like to campaign for them in the elections.

He said he knew Kejriwal for last two years who had sacrified everything even his children for the cause of the nation, adding, ” Although ‘our paths are different but goal is same to wipe out corruption from the country. “

Mr Hazare said he would personally examine the background contribution to the society and the social commitment of the candidates selected by Kejriwal party and if they were found good enough, he would personally tour their area and campign for them.

The anti-corruption crusador said, ” We need good people to come to Parliment and serve the Cabinet to check corruption in the country, ” adding, ” What we will expect from the goonds who have entered into Parliament and State Assemblies. “

He said as many as 163 members in Parliement have crimical cases pending against them while 15 of the 35 ministers were also having cases against them.

Hazare also cleared that he has no ambition to contest the election or form any political party in the future, stating that there is no necessity that only political party could bring the desired change in the society.

Jan Parliament is more powerful than Parliament and the Assemblies, he said adding even Ms Sonia Gandhi had realised this and asked her party workers to come to the street and go to the people. So also the BJP which had visualised that the real power was with the people and not with the leaders. To a question, Mr Hazare said his fight was against corruption and not against any individual of political parties. The Jan Lokpal, he said, if implemented would wipe out at least 65 per cent of corruption in the country.

He, however, said only one Anna or one Kejriwal will not change the society. ” We need thousands of Anna and thousands of Kejriwal in the country to wage a war against the corruption. ” On Direct Cash subsidy Transfer scheme, Mr Hazare said, ” It would not curb the blackmarketing unless we have a strong Jan Lokpal. ” Mr Hazare said he was against the entry of multinationals, be it in the industry or multi-brand retail sector. ” Why shoud we invite the multinationals and why not involve our locals, ” he said and remarked that the multinationals would behave like the Britishers and the poor would in no way be benifited by their presence. He further said the big industries would not change the economy but exploit the nature and destroy the environment. If the nation wants to be developed it must give focus to the village economy instead of pushing big industries at the cost the local people, land forest and water. (UNI)
