SHILLONG: The wife of late NCP legislator Mason Singh Sangma Mrs Bluebell R Sangma (Chokpot), NCP president and Deputy Speaker Sanbor Shullai (South Shillong) and former GSU president Andreas T Sangma ( North Tura) are in the list of seven candidates released by NCP on Saturday at the newly opened party office at Kench’s Trace, here.

Other candidates cleared by NCP include social worker Donbor Mawlein (Mawkyrwat), former BDO, Marthon J Sangma ( Mendipathar) , student leader Janathan Rabha (Raksamgre), and politician, Rohidas Marak (Dadanggre).

The joining of wife of Sangma to NCP is a setback for the newly-formed National People’s Party (NPP). Before his death Chokpot legislator along other NCP legislators except Shullai and Adolf Hitler Marak had ‘defected’ to the NPP.

The 54-year-old wife of the legislator told reporters that she would try to complete the unfinished task of her husband who passed away on September 18.

Earlier, Shullai in his address said that the NCP hoped to secure 25 to 30 seats in the 2013 Assembly elections.

He said the remaining list of the candidates will be released in the due course of time.

Shullai informed that he would leave for Delhi on Monday along with the executive members of the NCP state unit to meet the party chief Sharad Pawar to chalk out the election strategy. Ruling out possibility of pre-poll alliance with any political party including Congress, Shullai said, “Though the idea of a pre-poll alliance was made known to the State Congress chief DD Lapang, the Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma has rejected the offer and subsequently we decided not to have any alliance with the Congress”. He, however, did not rule out possibility of post-poll alliance with likeminded parties.
