Forum formed

At least seven leading workers’ Association of Garo Hills has formed a new platform called ‘United Workers’ Forum’ (UWF) at Tura Thepurpose with an intention to work effectively for the working class in the region. The meeting elected leaders of this new Forum with Rakkan M Sangma as chairman, Darmen G Momin as vice chairman, Phillip D Marak -general secretary, Cafieldson M Sangma and Salsrang Ch Marak as asst. gen. secretary besides others.

 Working day

The State Government has declared December 15 and 28 as working days for all the state Government offices and all the Revenue and Magisterial courts in the state.

 Inauguration

The “Integrared Basin Development and Livelihood promotion Programme ” the “National Botanical Research Institute Shillong Centre will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma on December 14 at 3.30 pm at BRDC Campus, Upper Shillong.

 Foundation stone

The Foundation Stone of a bridge at Rngi Mylliem will be laid on December 15 at 10 am.

 Programme

The office of the Block Development Officer (BDO) Khatarshnong Laitkroh will organize a one day programme for launching of the electronic benefit transfer (EBT) and accordingly Axis Bank will be making payments to MGNREGS workers electronically on December 19 from 11 am at the block office.

 Counseling

IGNOU counseling for the MEG (Fresh and Renewal) will be conducted from Feb 23 to April 13 at IGNOU Study Centre.

 Literacy award

The Dorbar Shnong will organize the 1st literacy award on December 18 at 3 pm at the Lumparing Sports Club and the cleaning drive will start from 8 am.
