Sohiong police outpost opened

 SHILLONG: Home Minister HDR Lyngdoh on Saturday inaugurated the much-awaited Sohiong Police Out-post at Sohiong village in East Khasi Hills district. The Sohiong Police Outpost which was carved out of Mawngap Police Outpost will cover 63 villages of the area with a total strength of 8 police personnel which include two officers, one head constable and five constables.

Addressing the gathering, Lyngdoh said the police outpost is the long felt need of the people of the area.

While urging the people of Sohiong and its adjoining area to cooperate with the police department for better maintenance of law and order, Lyngdoh also called upon police to serve people with utmost sincerity.

The function was presided over by M Kharkrang, Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, District in the presence of Chief Secretary WMS Pariat, L Blah, MDC, L Malngiang, MDC, I Lyngdoh, MDC, Kulbir Krishan, Director General of Police, J Lyngdoh, Commissioner and Secretary, Home (Police), BL Buam, Additional DGP, A Sun, DIG Eastern Range, senior police officials, sordar, headmen, local leaders, government officials and the general public.
