Cafe Shillong a snazzy eating joint first launched at Laitumkhrah has now expanded to another locale adjacent to the swanky Royal Heritage Hotel, Tripura Castle.
This one is for a fine dining experience say the two partners William Diengdoh and Larsing Ming Sawyan who first teamed up to start the first Cafe Shillong.
The two had recently started a bed and breakfast place at Lachumiere under the same name.
On Monday, the launch of this second venture saw the unveiling of a painting by renowned artist Benedict Hynniewta which was put up on the wall facing the entrance to the cafe.
The painting depicts yet another Khasi folklore which Hynniewta specialises in. The painting actually lends a cosy old world charm to the place, hung as it is on a wall above the fireplace.
William Diengdoh is a food connoisseur in his own right and experiments with different cuisines from Italian to Burmese to local Khasi and Naga food.
One of the signature dishes at Cafe Shillong is Khao Suey a Burmese dish served in style which never fails to tickle the palate. But for those with a continental taste there is a lot to pick from.
Cafe Shillong at Tripura Castle is set to be more of a fine dining locale for those with the time to relax and tease their taste-buds.
The ambiance has been tastefully done up by Amrita Sawyan who has spared no pains to make this a one stop shop not just for good old Shillongites but for visitors from across the country and the globe as well.
