Hapoli (Arunachal): With parliamentary and assembly polls due in Arunachal Pradesh in 2014, Chief Minister Nabam Tuki on Friday asked Congress workers to help recapture power at the Centre as well as in the state with a thumping majority.
“People have reposed their faith in the leadership of the Congress, which is the oldest party in the country,” Tuki told a party rally here to celebrate the 127th foundation day of Indian National Congress.
He said, the UPA government at the Centre was concerned about development of the land-locked state and various central packages were provided by the UPA I and II in the past several years.
“The Prime Minister’s massive development package during 2008 is being implemented by the state government in a transparent manner and progress of various projects under the package are progressing satisfactorily,” he said.
Tuki said, “My government has already created a skill development council, employment council besides livelihood schools for dropouts and unemployed youths to provide employment through self-employment schemes.”
He said, the government from this year would provide 100 tourist cabs to unemployed youths through Apex Bank loans with government subsidy up to three lakh. The state government would provide 100 vehicles under the scheme this year, he added.
The chief minister said that the government has sanctioned Rs ten crore for construction of the first mini secretariat at Hapoli.
The chief minister also handed over a cheque for Rs two crore announced earlier as relief for farmers following massive damage to crops. (PTI)
